Over the last few days, I had completed the second coat of joint compound. With both coats dry,
it was time to sand the walls smooth. This is the result...ready for primer.
Looking over at the corner, where the drywall meets the concrete. The concrete has several coats
of DryLok waterproofing paint, so I'm not worried about the joints cracking.
This nook will be the location of the chest freezer when the room is finished.
A close-up view of a corner. The stepped look required a lot of sanding using a detail power sander.
This view shows how the drywall box meets the concrete. I sanded the compound as well as possible
to blend it into the rough surface of the concrete. I plan to follow up with a wet sponge to feather
the joint compound seemlessly with the texture of the wall.
This is the most intricate part of the whole room, and the part I was most worried about. There are
a
lot of corners to deal with, and I had never done any drywall this complicated. So far it's looking
pretty good, but I'll be glad when that final coat of paint goes on and it's over.
The new divider wall was much easier and less complicated. Primer is going up soon!
