Renovations begin. Work today focused on pulling the wallpaper facing off.

The vinyl facing actually peeled off quite well. It did expose some water stains...

...and some mold around the outlet. But it's nothing some bleach won't fix.

The other water spot and mold. The mold proved not to be systemic, but the result of moisture
trapped behind the vinyl wallpaper after an old water leak.

Work begins on stripping the backing. I sprayed it down with wallpaper remover, and had a steamer
fired up, just in case I encountered stubborn spots...like in the other bedrooms.
My supervisor
lounges in the bottom-right corner of the photo.

But the citrus-based wallpaper remover
made short work of the job. By the end of the day,
half the room was wallpaper-free.
