The removed wallpaper shows the full extent of the damage on the walls.

Looking towards the closet. The shelf and door hardware has been removed.

This wall will require extensive skimming and sanding.

...as will the area by the windows.

A close-up near the window shows the damage, down to the gypsum itself. This was the result of steam
penetrating cuts in the paper facing made when the wallpaper was trimmed on the wall during installation.

Removing the wallpaper also revealed patches to significant holes in the wallboard.

This one was a particularly sloppy patch job to a hole caused by a door knob.

The closet door floor guides were cut into the carpet, instead of installed over it, leaving a hole.
Installing over the carpet gives you the option of removing it down the road.
