The past two weeks have been spent staining and polyurethaning the bookcase.
I fashioned a drying
rack
for the shelves out of the dog's pen, and hung the shelves
to dry using small drywall
screws
as pegs in each side.

After the staining was done, the first coat of satin polyurethane is applied.

Again, the shelves return to the drying rack after the first coat of poly.

One the first coat was dry, everything got a sanding with 220 grit sandpaper and sanding sponges.
This picture shows the bookcase sanded, just before the second coat of poly.

After two weeks of tedious stain and poly, the bookcase is done!

The flash photo shows the polyurethane finiish.
Again, my supervisor seems to approve.
