The next step in the bookcase build was to drill a series of peg holes in the sides of the boxes.
These holes will allow the flexibility to adjust the shelves.

I
purchased a new toy for this task -- a drill press. The press allowed me to create precise, consistent
holes. The lasers, a guide fence and a paper template allowed for accurate drilling.

I created paper templates with the proper hole spacing, then taped the template to the boards.
Later in the process, I came up with a better alternative to the paper templates.

Three of the eight boards are finished. I spaced the holes 2" on center. That's a little tighter than
other bookcases I researched, but I wanted the flexibility in my adjustable shelves.
The board on the left has the shelf pegs in it as a test.
