The wallpaper stripping continues. Someone patched the walls after they were sized, making some
areas very difficult to strip. The investment in a wallpaper steamer was worth it, though.

Some areas, like this area above the window casing, will require patching before priming.

The pace of the removal picked up at this point.

...even through this area, where the previous homeowner wallpapered right over the bare wallboard.

Removing the baseboard heaters revealed a couple of minor surprises.
![](2013kidsbedroom/20130107/Img_9860.jpg)
Apparently someone trimmed the baseboard moulding with a reciprocating saw.
I trimmed off the splintered piece for gluing an repair later.

Another surprise was this hole in the wallboard behind the end of the heater. It's a small hole, but
I don't need a mouse hole in my wall. It will be repaired.

The joints in the baseboards will be caulked to fill in voids like these, caused by years of settling.

After several days of stripping wallpaper, the room is cleaned up and the walls are ready for sanding.

The walls don't look great yet, but they aren't in bad shape. They should clean up nice.

I have some carpentry ahead of me to address the door, which should swing to the opposite side.

The baseboard heaters were sprayed to match the moulding color.
I plan to clean them up and repaint them white.

Next up, sanding and carpentry.
