With the bookcase boxes built, work begins inside. First, a few "before" pictures.
Much of the decor will remain the same, though everything will get a coat of paint.

Most of the work will be on this end of the room. In the distance is the living room -- a future project.

We love this room, but don't like the big empty wall with an ill-placed air conditioning return vent.

The air conditioning was installed in the house well after it was built. The return A/C duct is located
in the dining room closet, resulting in the strange placement in the middle of the wall.

We love the windows in this room, and by painting them lighter with a darker wall color, they should "pop."

The couches in this room are old and tired, but new ones probably won't be in the budget.

The entryway has a nice cabinet we picked up last year, but is otherwise blah.

The new bookcases will be located to the right, along the big blank wall.

Color on the walls will make the room a lot "warmer."

Painter's tape along the floor marks where new walls will surround the inset bookcase.
